I have a nice little list of books already but there are some that make me giddy with excitement. Let's see what these are.
Like many others, I'm absolutely obsessed with Fourth Wing. I read it first in May 2023 as an ebook, then ordered both books (with sprayed edges and gold foil on the cover by Nolabooks) in physical form in December.
I managed to finish rereading Fourth Wing in December, and Iron Flame will be one of my first reads in January 2024. After the ending of the first book I cannot wait to read what happens next! Although I'm still heartbroken about Liam.
Nobody's surprised to see this book on here, right? This next Crescent City book releases on January 30, and I've already pre-ordered it from Bestsellers Books.
Yet again a book where the previous one had an insane ending, leaving us frenzied to get our hands on these. Don't want to add spoilers, so let's just leave it at that for now.
Also not a standalone or first in a series, Foxglove is the second book following Belladonna, a gothic fantasy romance I read in November.
I liked the book and its characters, and I can't wait to go along yet another journey with Signa and Death as they solve another murder mystery.
And I say that considering that mystery novels are usually not my cup of tea. But the immaculate execution of eerie gothic vibes, the characters, and the romance in Belladonna still makes me want to read more.
I've loved Rebecca's books since The Queen's Rising. So especially with all the hype around this one, I really want to read it! My only issue is that I prefer to read paperbacks AND I like the cover with the illustrated characters on it.
And can you guess when that edition will be published? 2024 September. So I'll be waiting until then, putting up with the fomo, so I can have the edition I want.
I wouldn't be a proper bookworm... I mean bookdragon, if that was all there was on my TBR. Sorry if these are not the most inspired and sophisticated recommendations but I opted for honesty over pretense.
It's the case of seeing so many beautiful editions and cover that now I really want to get my hands on it. I don't even know much of the storyline, but I know it's gorgeous, it's a fantasy romance, and a lot of people enjoyed it very much.
It's a good enough reason for me to add it to my list.
This novel is a young adult fantasy romance I've seen in the bookstore while browsing one day. I liked the synopsis, the cover, and the genre fits well too.
I've also seen its second installment, Cursed Crowns, which I'll also pick up if I like this one.
As Goodreads says, it's a "feminist YA horror-thriller-romance retelling of The Picture of Dorian Gray", which happens to be my favourite classic novel.
Truth to be told, I haven't even heard of this book before buying it. But I stumbled upon it in Waterstones when I was in London in September, and their exclusive edition had the most beatiful sprayed edges, so I had to pick it up.
It's been sitting on my shelf ever since, so hopefully I'll get to it finally this year.
gasp - a book that's not fantasy! My other favourite genre happens to be contemporary romance, hence this book on the list.
I've read some of Huang's other romance books (from the Kings of Sin series) and I enjoyed them, so I thought it was time to try her more famous series. Managing to exercise some self control, I only bought the first book and not the whole series, so first I'll see how I like it.
Look out for a review to see the verdict later on.
